For the friend who went away

Today your beloved friend,
was taken suddenly from you.
His time was short, I know my friend
But his love for you was true...

With the love you gave, this rescue dog.
You made him your beloved friend.
In your broken heart today,
You never want to hurt again...

But something deep inside your soul,
will grieve for but a day.
For soon along will come another
And to your broken heart will say...

"Friend of the lost, and lonely souls,
be they human or furkid.
Do not steel your heart to pain

For in this life, there are few
humans with a heart.
So human friend yours breaks today
But, you are never really apart...

Just gaze into the eyes of your "kids"
and know the love they see.
And remember at the Rainbow Bridge
You will see your beloved again.
