A Loan

Tiny furchildren come to live with me.
Such a precious gift, as grateful as can be.
A pet is a gift, sent from above, it
is a gift to protect, treasure and love...

God said, to humans, "I send you a special gift."
To teach and care for as long as he may live.
The time may be long, simply, or may be brief.
But trust in knowing, I'll be there in the grief...

We are given a gift, a beating heart.
Till life ends and we must part.
However brief the stay may be
is a joy, to share the love with me...

Each day we have is such a gift,
it raises spirits, and helps us live.
Pets come to us, God's gift, a loan;
For humans should not walk the journey alone...
