Quincy You came to us with a broken heart. The mistress you had known from puppyhood had died and her children just put you out the door. Luckily, an animal control person found you and put you on the internet for adoption. You were supposed to only be with us for a week before going to a foster home. But, the minute you climbed into our car, we knew that you had found your forever home. And here we are three short years later saying goodbye. I know that you felt the love we had for you, because you returned it over and over. The years were not kind to you, you first went blind, and then your gait became slower and slower. But you never once complained. We felt good that you didn't seem to be in any pain.
How sad it was that final morning for us to lift you off your bed to find that you could no longer walk or go to the bathroom. It was with great sadness that we realized it was time for us to help you die with the dignity you had shown us during the short time you spent with us. Funny how there is never enough time to share love and affection.
Goodbye my "Big Boy" may you find your first mistress at the bridge. You will be young and have sight again. We will miss you terribly. Please don't forget about us and watch for us to cross the bridge when our time has come.
Love always,
Mom and Dad

A Special Place
You have a special place, Dear Lord
That I know you'll always keep
A special place reserved for dogs
When they quietly fall asleep.
Lord, I know You keep this special place
And so to you, we pray
For one special little Dachshund
Who quietly died today.
So, speak to him softly, please
And give him a warm hello
He is a Special gift to you Dear Lord
From all who loved him so.
